Yusupov Palace

Yusupov Palace

«There would have been no revolution in Russia if all noble families were like this one» – said the man who had been lighting candles and then turning on lights at the palace all his life before the Usupovs had to flee to France. Entering Usupov palace today you become a guest of a family that could itself stand for a textbook on the history of Russia. We’ll take you through the rooms where great balls gathered the most glorious members of St.Petersburg higher society, where happy and unhappy events of everyday life took place, and finally you’ll be invited to the room that witnessed one of the most controversial events in the Russian history — the murder of Gregory Rasputin.

Would you like to see Russia through the eye of this outstanding family? If so, we’ll be happy to see you joining us for this memorable experience.

The tour of Usupov palace takes about 1,5 hours and consists of 2 parts:

  • gorgeous gala rooms with the story of the life of the richest noble family during the Russian imperial times
  • visit to the rooms of Felix Usupov, where the murderer of Rasputin took place, and the story of Rasputin’s life and death.

Please note that it’s a family palace, quite small compared to the Hermitage, for example. Even though it’s not on the main tourist rout in St. Petersburg, it is of gret interest to lots of people and it can hardly room all the visitors willing to see it. That’s why we’ll have to check availability of this tour in advance and we ask for your understanding that we’ll have to come strictly on the appointed time of the tour, and since you’ve booked it, it’s not refundable. These are the rules of the palace management. No worries though… As soon as we know the time of the tour we’ll help you plan the rest of the day to your taste and for your best comfort.
